In each of these paintings, a face surfaces through the abstraction and I articulate the details further using the lines of the branch.  I also started seeing structures of wings and feathers. As I am often thinking about how messages travel, the bird presented as a relevant and powerful image, whether perched and whispering in the person’s ear, hovering or swooping by.
